Our Company History

For more than 40 years we’ve been focused on providing architects, contractors and owners the best daylighting options available at every price and performance range – from Quick Ship™ skylights that can be purchased through our online store to complex custom designs that require the assistance of our engineering staff. But no matter what the system, our goal is your satisfaction. We want to make finding, specifying, ordering and installing daylighting systems as simple and worry-free as possible. From initial quote to manufacture to installation and beyond, our products are only as good as our customer service.

Daylighting has become an integral part of 21st century design and green building practices, and as products and materials evolve, and needs change, we’re always working to develop the highest quality, most reliable and most advanced daylighting systems available. Our goal is to provide you with an unsurpassed skylight, canopy or translucent wall system that fits your project’s needs and budget.

Moving Forward

Moving Forward
Everyone at Major is committed to customer satisfaction and service to our clients. Your needs are what drive us to be a better and more responsive organization. We’re also focused on promoting the use of daylighting and its numerous benefits, as they have significant contributions to the environment, to building occupants and their well-being, and to the bottom line. Our wide range of daylighting products and systems will continue to evolve and advance as new technologies emerge and customer demands change. We look forward to serving as your daylighting solutions supplier for years to come!

Meeting Customer Needs

Over the years, Major has invested heavily in new product development. In 2014, Major opened an online store for its pre-engineered LightBasic™ Quick Ship™ self-flashing single slope skylights. And in 2016, Major became the first U.S. daylighting manufacturer to offer complete systems featuring translucent FRP panels, polycarbonate multi-wall and glass glazing (as well as mixed glazed systems).

Advancing Performance

In 2010, Major introduces Clima-Tite™ translucent panel wall systems, which feature a pultruded fiberglass framing system, allowing for improved u-factors and improved Condensation Resistance Factor (CRF) numbers versus traditional aluminum-based systems, as well as excellent corrosion resistance for harsh environments.

Expanding Our Portfolio

In 2009, Major Industries, Inc. reaches an agreement with Oldcastle Glass® to purchase its translucent panel wall and skylight business, and creates our LightBasic™ line of value-driven translucent walls and skylights. Officially released in early 2010, LightBasic™ is a value-oriented wall system perfect for manufacturing spaces and warehouses, or anywhere where budgets are tight.

Community Support

Community Support
Major Industries was honored as the 2009 Small Business of the Year in Manufacturing from the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce for its long-term success and commitment to the community.

Adding More Space

In 2002, Major breaks ground on additional space to increase the shop floor area by 75% with new facilities on the existing structure’s east and north sides. The project also includes expanded shipping docks, improved material handling capabilities, and additional break areas.

First in Commercial Daylighting Industry

We have also invested heavily in streamlining our manufacturing and drafting processes, allowing for shortened lead times and on-time shipping. We work hard to get the material you need delivered safely and on time. Major was the first company in the commercial daylighting industry to computerize the bidding process with the development of SkyPrice™, an online quote system. SkyPrice™ allows users to get fast, guaranteed accurate quotes in a significantly reduced amount of time compared to traditional methods.

Expanding for the Future

Expanding for the Future
Because of this growth, Major expanded to 75% more floor space in 1998, and then again in 2001, bringing the manufacturing facility to a total of over 52,000 square feet. This additional space, along with state-of-the-art manufacturing systems, allows for improved material handling capabilities, efficiency, and the ability to better serve our growing customer base.

New Leadership

New Leadership
After taking ownership of Major Industries in 1993, current President Wayne Toenjes made a stronger commitment to our customers and employees, leading to increased sales volumes and an additional number of clients who repeatedly specify and use our skylights and translucent wall systems.
