Staff Accountant

Major Industries is currently seeking a Staff Accountant. This person will be responsible for all accounting support functions in the company, including detailed record maintenance supporting accounting functions, and for following and using sound accounting principles in day-to-day accounting transactions and financial reporting.

JOB DUTIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting the Accounting Manager with with various projects including year-end closing, W-2’s, 1099’s, and account closing.
  • Performing accounts payable duties including verification, account coding, and entry of accounts payable invoices.
  • Responsible for printing and mailing checks, managing payroll system, processing workman’s compensation and 401k reports.
  • Responsible for month-end closing, including preparing journal entries, auditing, reconciliations, and end-of-month financials.
  • Perform cost analysis on jobs and close completed jobs.
  • Perform accounts receivables duties, including maintenance of customer account activity (payments, credits), and cash application.
  • Monthly sales & use tax as well as Quarterly reporting functions.
  • Furnish information to staff and department heads, and conduct monthly financial review meetings.
  • Maintain accurate account of commissions and installation charges payable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the fundamental concepts that underlie accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
  • Knowledge of and skills in using accounting software systems as well as other various office equipment (computers, copy machine, etc.)
  • Ability to be conscientious, detail-oriented, and well organized, with above average math aptitude, analytical aptitude, and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to protect sensitive company information, maintain a high level of integrity, and be diligent in carrying out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to speak and comprehend English fluently and communicate with co-workers in a courteous and professional manner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Successful completion of an Associates degree in accounting or business administration required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience preferences include three years accounting in a manufacturing company.

Architectural Business Development

Major Industries is searching for a registered architect interested in a commercial product sales position. This “work at a distance” position requires a minimum of 50% travel within a multi-state region, from your home office, and involves design consulting, project development, project follow-up and closing new projects by working directly with Architects, Owners Representatives, General Contractors and other channel partners. We seek an individual that understands the manufacturing business and selling process, and someone who has a desire to become a business development representative, promoting and selling our custom designed and manufactured architectural building products.

Qualified applicants should have the following:

  • Architectural License plus LEED Certification
  • Business development / selling background
  • Experience traveling regularly
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working computer knowledge (including MS Office programs)
  • Adaptable sales personality with the ability to work independently
  • Strong knowledge of the construction industry – especially project bidding knowledge
  • Excellent customer service skills

Other desired strengths include public speaking, an understanding of structural analysis, a daylighting analysis background, glazing experience, building code experience and specification writing, and field experience as a project manager

REQUIREMENTS:
Travel is required from time to time but training and meetings should be performed as often as possible through electronic webinar means such as Zoom, Google Hangouts or other approved software.
